Just experimenting with some stuff. I'm struggling to get Tozu down on paper, mostly because I have a pretty clear image of him in my head.

( Iron Empress-Chapter Two )

Ok, so a while ago I had this idea for an avatar fanfiction that kind of invaded my mind. I've never actually done any fanfiction before, (though I've had a fair few ideas), but this story really grabbed me. So, I started writing.

It is a Toph/Zuko story (though it starts out with the cannon pairings), and it takes place seven years after the Avatar Finale. It does indeed have a fully realized plot (a political intrigues kind of thing), and it will deal with some mature issues, but as of this first chapter, everything is pretty clean.

I'm really in desperate need of a beta-reader if anyone is interested. Mostly to double check my grammar and spelling, but also to help me make sure I'm not writing any one too far out of character (of course it will happen some times..)

So anyway, here is the first chapter. Any character that you don't recognize belongs to me. Everything else belongs to Mike and Bryan. Please let me know what you like, and what could be improved.

But anyway, I've been re-reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and I'm falling in love with it all over again. The descriptions of Fairy and its inhabitants simply beg illustration. What would a necklace of broken promises and regrets even look like? And I wish we got to learn more about Childermass, he is pretty much one big mystery throughout the book which never gets solved, I would love to know how he came into Norrell's service and what he did before that.

One of the things I liked best about the Avatar finale was that Toph finally got some more screentime. She's been so neglected recently. I was glad she got a chance to show off her awesome. Seriously though. Metalbending armor for herself?! Epic.

Ember Island Players! Especially that moment between Zuko and Toph in the hallway, adorable. And aww...poor Aang.

Anyway, have more Toko art.


"Does that hurt?" He asked, cupping her burned foot gently in his hands.
"Of course not" She growled, turning away so that he couldn't see the tears which threatened to spill from blind eyes.

This was painted a while back. I like to think I've improved a bit since then...

Toko? Tokka? I just can't decide...

"Toph, where are you going?"
"I can't do this." She turned as if to continue storming out, instinctively, he grabbed her arm. For a moment both froze, acutely aware of the point of contact between their two bodies. Her cheeks flushed as his breath hitched in his throat. And then he let go, quickly, as though burned.
"What is it that you can't do exactly? I've never seen you back away from anything." He spoke harshly, mockingly.
"This, Zuko." She gestured angrily at the party behind them, at her richly embroidered dress. "This is exactly the life I ran away from."
They stood quietly for a moment. Him taking in the glossy darkness of her hair, the glow of her skin against the delicate fabric, her muddy toes peeking out beneath the hem of her gown, and her hearing each breath, each heartbeat of his in the silence.
And she turned away. And he let her go.

Katara has just been getting better and better for me lately, I didnt really like her at the beginning, and I definitely don't like zutara, but now that Kataang is real, I have started to really love her. Her angry side is scarily great.

NOT ENOUGH TOPH THOUGH.

Seriously, why has she been so neglected lately? Did I miss something? Like why wouldn't Zuko and Sokka have taken her to the Boiling Rock? Prison made of metal...metalbender...honestly guys.

More avatar art, as I've totally been on a kick lately


Im still sitting here trying to decided whether I like Tokka or Toko better, so if anyone has any good reasons, help me out here. And I mean good reasons, none of this 'well, toko would never ever happen in canon' stuff. I want no logic here. :)

(Oh, and can anyone teach me how to put the artwork under a cut? I'm feeling internet-retarded because I can't figure it out)

Still haven't decided what ship I like best for her though, except I am pretty sure that toph/aang dosent really work for me, especially since I've recently converted to being a Kataang shipper (I know, the horror!)
